Why God’s Word Is Profitable for Every Christian

A christian with God's word

The importance of God's word in the life of a Christian is enormous because the word of God is life to the believer. Jesus said the words he speaks are spirit and life (John 6:63).

God's word keeps every Christian from falling (Psalm 37:31). The word of God shows the mistakes of the early fathers of the Christian faith which every believer can learn from (Romans 15:4).

Some of the mistakes of the early Christian fathers were David's lust for Uriah's wife and how he was restored (2 Samuel 11:2-4).

God's word also gives direction. At some point in time, a Christian is faced with choices that require a decision. God's word in such instances helps the believer in making decisions. The decision may concern marriage, health, and academics (Psalm 119:105).

God's word gives wisdom and increases understanding. Every Christian needs wisdom in piloting the affairs of life. God's word is the fountain of wisdom that helps the believer to understand every aspect of life (Psalm 119:130).

God's word is also a shield and refuge for whoever makes it their anchor (Proverbs 30:5).

Satan attacks the mind of a believer, but the word of God serves as a shield against every lie of the devil.

God's word is the food of the soul. Natural food is for the belly, but God's word is for the soul. The soul needs a regular intake of God's word to survive (Matthew 4:4).

God's word sets free. It's the truth. Satan and his minions hate the truth. They flee from wherever the truth is spoken and whoever reads the word of God. As we read God's word, we are liberated from every spirit that holds us bound.

God's word also sanctifies. It purifies the thoughts of a Christian. Falsehood spreads across various means in the world. God's word purifies the heart from every falsehood. It also cleanses the mind from every thought of fear and anxiety (John 17:17).

God's word increases the faith of a Christian. Faith comes and increases by the hearing of God's word (Romans 10:17). Everyone has a different proportion of faith. For some, small and others, large. The bigger faith we have greater the work we can do for God.

God's word is important. The mind depreciates due to what we see and hear daily. Christians should not live by the ways of the world but renew their mind daily with God's word (Romans 12:2).
