A Call to Repentance

A christian with bible

Repentance is the sorrow for wrongdoing that leads to a change of mind. God overlooks past ignorance in sin but wants everyone to repent (Acts 17:30).

There is joy in heaven when a sinner repents (Luke 15:7). Jesus Christ came to the world to call sinners to repentance. He loves sinners but hates their sins (Luke 5:32).

God wants us to repent because it’s not his will for anyone to perish. Jesus Christ is coming soon. Some wonder why there is a delay. God has a reason for it. He is giving more time for people to repent because he doesn’t desire anyone to perish, but all should come to repentance (2 Peter 3:9).

Though it’s not the desire of God to see anyone perish, anyone who refuses to repent of his sins is at the risk to perish because God turns his back on ungodliness giving Satan and demons access to the life of the individual (Luke 13:3).

The sins of anyone who repents are blotted out. God declares him righteous, and he is not held accountable for past sins. He is forgiven (Acts 3:19).

It's important to repent because the wages of sin is death. The due reward for sin is death, but Christ took the place of our death by his death on the cross so that whoever believes in him will not perish but have everlasting life (Romans 6:23).

Whoever covers his sins will not prosper. God promotes anyone who doesn’t conceal sin in the heart but confesses and forsakes them (Proverbs 28:13).

To repent from sin, realize you are a sinner. Feel remorseful for your sins because godly sorrow works repentance (2 Corinthians 7:10).

Accept Jesus into your life who is ever willing to forgive (John 3:16).

Turn from your wicked ways and promise God in your heart that you will not return to your old path (2 Chronicles 7:14).

Finally, confess your sins to God, who is willing to forgive and cleanse you from all unrighteousness  (1 John 1:9).
