Why Every Christian Should Desire God's Word

God's word is essential for the well-being of every Christian. It should be strongly desired to obtain it. There are several reasons it should be desired.

It is important for the spiritual growth of every Christian. The new converts need it to gain insights and inspiration. Mature believers also need it. They need it for their spiritual growth (1 Peter 2:2).

Every Christian should desire it for direction and guidance. A Christian, without the desire for God's word, is like someone walking in the dark. He may stumble. The word of God should be a lamp to their feet.

The word of God gives direction and those that consult it for leading never miss their way (Psalm 119:105).

It also brings prosperity. Meditating and reading it aloud in prayer breaks strongholds limiting the success of the believer (Joshua 1:8).

God's word should be part of a believer's lifestyle. It should not only be used in the church on Sundays, but everywhere we find ourselves.

God desires to use every believer after conversion. The word of God prepares him for a perfect and competent Christian service for God. No work can be done for God without his word (2 Timothy 3:17).

It should also be desired because it helps the believer grow in righteousness after several reproofs and corrections (2 Timothy 3:16).

The Christian should desire it to boost his faith. The faith of a believer increases as he reads and listens to it. Faith comes by hearing. The believer needs faith because it pleases God (Romans 10:17).

A believer should desire the word of God to discern God's will for his life (Romans 12:2).

God has a plan for everyone. He communicates his intentions through several means and God's word is one of them.

The believer should also desire it for the sanctification of his thought. The mind is prone to thoughts that are contrary to the will of God. God's word cleanses it from every wrong thought (John 17:17).

Every Christian should readily receive the word of God to save their souls and thoughts from wrong imaginations.
