And many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt." (Dan 12:1-2)
Thus, the "sign of the Son of Man" in Matthew 24:30 is a reference to the visible and powerful return of Jesus Christ to the earth. This event will be accompanied by judgment for those who have rejected him, but will also bring deliverance and eternal life for those who have placed their faith in him.
