Finding Peace in God’s Presence

A christian

Everyone is in search of peace, but we can only find true peace with God. In the presence of God, there is fullness of joy (Psalm 16:11).

There is no peace outside God's presence. Adam and Eve initially enjoyed peace in God's presence, but they sinned. When they did, they were fearful and hid from the presence of God (Genesis 3:8).

The presence of God gives rest and peace. Moses asked for God’s presence to lead His people to Canaan. Then the Lord graciously promised that His presence would go with him. God told him that he will give him rest in his presence (Exodus 33:14).

We can dwell in God's presence by prayer. As you speak to God, he draws nigh. God says we will find him in his presence when we seek Him with the whole of our hearts. We seek God through prayer and find him if we do wholeheartedly (Jeremiah 29:13).

We must also abide in Christ to dwell in God's presence. Jesus says no man can go to the Father except through him (John 14:6).

God draws nigh when we draw nigh to him. Sin distances him from us. God expects that we repent of our sins and forsake them to enjoy the communion and a relationship with him in his presence (James 4:8).

Apart from peace, the presence of God provides security. It secures us from the plots of the enemy (Psalm 31:20).
