Drawing Closer to God

A christian with bible

Draw nigh to God and he will draw nigh to you (James 4:8). God doesn’t force himself on anyone. The closer you get, the closer he comes. Humans are meant to chase God and when we get closer, he takes care of our needs.

The closer we get to God, the more of his grace we will have in our lives. Grace is his influence over our lives. Life under the influence of God cannot be compared to that without. The difference is always obvious. A life without the grace of God will not make any meaningful impact.

You get all the benefits you need when you are close to God. Since you are close to him, he can easily reach you to supply your needs. Distance is not a barrier between God, but deliberate neglect of him will create a distance barrier.

God will watch over you when you are close to him. Like the chicks under the protective eye of the mother hen watching against any harm that might threaten the safety of the chicks, God will not permit any harm to come near you.

You can draw high to God through prayer (Psalm 145:18). Prayer is the communication with God. No relationship can exist between two without meaningful communication. Communication in relationships creates greater bonds. So it is with God. As you communicate with him through prayer, he will keep you in mind and meet your desires always.

You can also draw nigh to God through faith. It’s impossible to please God without faith (Hebrews 11:6). Only those God is pleased with can be in his presence. Faith attracts God and fear repels him. We must have confidence in him always to attract his presence in our lives.

Developing your relationship with Jesus will also draw you close to God because no one can get closer to God except through his son, Jesus (John 14:6).
