The Indwelling Presence of the Holy Spirit

Presence of the Holy Spirit

God is always with us. He was with Adam in the beginning before the fall. He was in the world as Christ and still with us as the Holy Spirit indwelling in every believer.

At Christ’s departure, he promised to send the Holy Spirit to be with us forever. He is a helper sent to dwell with all believers and keep them in comfort (John 14:16-18).

The Holy Spirit gives the believer hope. God has plans for every believer. The plans are beyond the imagination of man, but are continually revealed to the believer by the Holy Spirit. This helps him to continue moving forward, having the hope that a greater future lies ahead (1 Corinthians 2:9-10).

He helps in educating the believer. He saves him from ignorance, continually teaching him through inner voices, dreams, vision, and experience. No knowledge is lost with the Holy Spirit because helps to remember for subsequent usage (John 14:26).

The Holy Spirit helps the believer to be an effective witness for Christ. No one has the power to proclaim Christ unless he is empowered by the Spirit of God. A believer of Christ cannot keep him secret because the Spirit will continually witness Christ through him (John 15:26).

The Holy Spirit constrains the believer and prevents him from sinning. He is convicted and corrected when he errs and is urged to repent. The presence of the Holy Spirit doesn’t permit sin in the life of an individual (John 16:8-9).

The Holy Spirit helps a believer to pray. He gives him the right pattern to pray effectively. A Christian may not know what to pray as he ought to, but Spirit helps in his weakness, continually making intercession through him (Romans 8:26-27).

Through the presence of Spirit, his fruits become evident in the life of a believer, which is a mark of a true child of God (Galatians 5:22-23).
