Seek God First in Everything

A Christian seeking God

Jesus compared his relationship with his followers to a vine with its branches and said we can do nothing without him (John 15:5).

When Christ said we can do nothing without him, we may think it's only a few things, but it's nothing. Since we can do nothing without Christ, we must seek his help in everything we do.

Seeking God first in everything is requesting his help through prayer every time before we act. It involves thanking him for the previous before every new request.

Seeking God demands that we do nothing unless we first ask God for his help. This is a good way to develop intimacy with God because he draws near as we draw near to Him in prayer.

God's word has admonished us to be anxious over nothing but should make our request known to God by prayer and supplication
(Philippians 4:6)We may find things difficult because we do not seek the help of God before doing it. The Bible says we do not receive because don’t ask (James 4:2).

Seeking God first also means putting him first above everything else in life.

Some put money, career, and fame above God, but he has promised to give everything else when we seek him first (Matthew 6:33).

The mind cannot focus on two things at the same time. No one can serve two masters at the same time. Put others aside and the love of God will fill your heart.

We must seek God first because we can do nothing without him. Every effort made without God is a wasted effort. The builder builds in vain when the Lord is not involved (Psalm 127:1).

No one can seek God in sin. He must begin with repentance. Receive Christ into your life by confessing him as Lord and believing in his death and resurrection (Romans 10:9). Thereafter, continually ask for God's help in prayer before any action and it will be granted.
