Give Your Heart to God

Jesus and a girl

Giving God your heart is delighting in his ways and finding pleasure in everything that concerns him. Some delight in the things of the world and despise the things of God and he is not happy with it. He wants the whole attention of man given to him (Proverbs 23:26).

God wants us to seek Him with the whole of our hearts. Put every distraction aside and follow after God. He desires your companionship and relationship. The people who seek after God with the whole of their hearts are blessed (Psalm 119:2).

Loving God with the whole of your heart is the top commandment from him. He desires our heart and attention above everything else (Matthew 22:37).

God wants us to love everyone but not above him. He must come first in our hearts and choices. Jesus says whoever loves others above him is not worthy of him. Do you mind what other thinks or feel than what God thinks concerning you? Focus on God (Matthew 10:37-38).

Let Christ dwell richly in your heart. A heart given to Christ will seek after God. An impure heart cannot seek God. Jesus is the sanctifier through the Holy Spirit. He purifies the heart and makes it fit to serve and seek after God (Ephesians 3:17).

Guard your heart with all diligence. Mind what goes in so that it won’t be corrupted and turn away from the ways of God.  Exercise caution with what you look at or hear because it goes to the heart (Proverbs 4:23).

Let your heart hold fast to the words of God to keep his commandment. The heart that keeps God's commandment will seek after him and is loved by him (John 14:21).

If you find it difficult to seek after God with your whole heart, pray that he will circumcise your heart and prune it from the love of the world to love him wholeheartedly (Deuteronomy 30:6).
