What God Demands Before Healing

Healing from Jesus

Bible Text: 2 Chronicles 7:14

To avoid the recurrence of an ailment on the body, God demands certain conditions before healing.

God is not the author of sickness but permits it for some reasons best known to him.

God appeared to Solomon after he finished building the temple and told him the conditions that should be met by his people before healing.

2 Chronicles 7:14, “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”

God demands our humility before he heals. Humility in this context does not only refer to the absence of pride and arrogance but our act of submission to God.

Man desires to rule himself in pride, but God wants to rule and have complete control over us because we can't help ourselves without him.

God wants our submission to him before healing (James 4:7). He also wants us to remain faithful to him after the healing so that Satan doesn't take advantage of our alienation from him (2 Corinthians 2:11).

God wants our prayer before healing. Most sickness is inspired by unclean spirits that live in people (Matthew 12:43-45). As we mention the name of Jesus in prayer, they give way for the perfection of the healing.

He wants us to cultivate the act of regular communion with him in prayer. He desires our relationship. He wants us to seek him regularly. No father would have a son that doesn't keep close contact in communion with him.

God also wants repentance from sin and wickedness before healing.

No one who continues to sin gets healing. As we make up our minds to shun sin, God steps in to perfect our healing.

It's the will of God for everyone to overcome sin. It's not his desire for anyone to receive healing on earth, continue in sin and go to hell in the end.

Jesus Christ has paid the price for our sins and healing (1 Peter 2:24). God did his role by sending his Son, Jesus, to die for our sins. Jesus did his role by paying the price with his death. We should play a role by meeting the conditions before our healing can take place.
