The Time of the Rapture

Rapture

The rapture is the taking away of saints from the world before the great tribulation (Matthew 24:21).

As Jesus taught his disciples, the Pharisees sought him, desiring to know about the Kingdom. They asked him when the kingdom will come (Luke 17:20). When he will come both at the rapture and at the second advent.

Christ told them that the kingdom was already around them (Luke 17:21). He was referring to the invisible Kingdom which was within because of his presence in the world and was fully established at the coming of the Holy Spirit.

However, they asked about the physical Kingdom (i.e. the millennial Kingdom). It will be established here on earth after the rapture and at the second coming of Jesus Christ (Revelation 20:6).

Christ gave various events that will precede his coming and the period the rapture will happen.

In Luke 17:34, Christ said, “… in that night there shall be two men in one bed; the one shall be taken, and the other shall be left.”

This is referring to the rapture.

For the time of the rapture, Christ said: “in that night”. One would think he was referring to the dark hour of the day where work cease and everyone goes to bed. But NO! Christ said no man knows the day or the hour he will come except the Father only. So he can’t contradict himself (Matthew 24:36).

When he says, “in that night” he was referring to a time when people in the world would have given themselves to slumber (spiritual sleeping) and neglect spiritual duties and exercise, just as it was in the days of Noah.

In the proceeding verses, he said the time, which he referred to as “night” will be like it was in the days of Noah. Everyone eating, drinking, and marrying that they forget everything about God or listen to his people (Luke 17:26-27).

The rapture will take everyone unawares. Christ said that he will come like a thief in the night (1 Thessalonians 5:2).

Paul said that the time (rapture) will not come except there's falling away first and the man of sin (the Antichrist) is revealed (2 Thessalonians 2:3).

The falling away is the “night”, Christ said. The time of rapid backsliding and neglect of the Christian faith.

It will be a night because it will be one of the darkest periods in human history. Great trouble will be everywhere. But the trouble will not be as great that will be experienced at the great tribulation for those who missed the rapture.

There is an escape through the rapture. To partake, you must come to Christ and surrender all to him. He will forgive your sins and cleanse you with his precious blood (1 John 1:9).

After you do that, congratulations and welcome to the household of God!
